Hello everyone! First journal of the new year! Hope you had a great end to 2014! I'm back from my trip. Had a great time, and it was wonderful seeing everyone!
So now I'm going back to work on commissions. Thank you for your patience! I'll have all your orders done in a timely manner, so expect to hear from me personally soon.
And now for my new years resolution that I'd planned to announce. I've decided to start doing artwork to raise money for charity. I'd like to do this regularly. For each of my charity pieces I plan to donate all proceeds to animal shelters. Right now on TV I keep seeing that commercial that shows the abused animals out in the cold, and I've seen the cruelty humanity can show towards these poor animals and it just breaks my heart to pieces. So I think it's about time to do artwork for a good cause.
I'm not entirely sure how I'll go about this yet. I'm thinking of doing 2 sets of art pieces at a time. One that I will sell on eBay and choose an animal charity from the choices offered there- probably ASPCA. And the other I'd like to sell on my own, maybe here on dA, and money from that art I'd like to bring to a local no-kill animal shelter in my area- a place that's really good and could really use the money. Though of course I want to research everything first before picking recipients. I'm thinking to split it this way because I'd prefer smaller lesser known shelters that do good work but probably don't get anything near what bigger charities get who could really use the money. And a charity like that would probably be hard or impossible to find on eBay [Giving Works]. Plus I'd like to give the money personally so I know for sure it goes there, rather than sell an auction for which the money doesn't come to me and I have no way of knowing for sure where it went. Not that I'm saying anything shady is going on, but all too often charities and aides desperately need money, get a lot of it, and still no help seems to come and all the money seems to just disappear. So I want to make sure that if I'm giving money to help animals, that's exactly where it goes, and doesn't disappear into someone's pockets.
So those are my plans. When all commissions are complete, and my Christmas freebee sketches are complete, that is what I want to get started on. Provided these art pieces sell, I'd like to do one or two a month and see how that plays out. If anyone has done this before, or has any suggestions or tips, that would be great and I'd love to hear from you.
Much love!

Happy [Early] Birthday to Me
DeviantART was kind enough to remind me that my birthday is tomorrow and suggested I post a status update and "start a party." Here is my announcement. lol If anyone is feeling very generous, I'd love a diamond badge so I could have a month of Core and make my page look pretty. Please and thank you (*shameless puppy eyes*) So I did think of something fun. In the comments, share an artwork or two that you've come across on this site that you love. So below I'll post some that made my heart pitter patter
Uncommon Christmas Songs
Merry Christmas [Eve] everyone! Hope you have a safe and happy holiday! I was listening to Christmas music earlier while running some last minute errands and thought of something fun. I'm sure you all know that the radio tends to repeat the same Christmas songs over and over. But there are hundreds more out there. So: Give me a list of at least two uncommon or obscure Christmas songs that you like but never hear on the radio. Mine are- Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey by Lou Monte Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)
My Doggie Had A Stroke...
UPDATE 3.30.23: My little Petie passed away Monday morning. We ended up putting him to sleep. He was in too much pain. During the day was decent at times, but he suffered so much at night that we knew it was time. His last night alive was particularly bad. He cried and barked all night. I walked him around the house for nearly two hours because it would quiet him a little. No medicines worked. He finally fell asleep exhausted at 4:30am and I continued to watch him through the morning. After he'd woken up again and began to cry, we gave him more medicine and he'd calmed down. He was peaceful after that- even when we were waiting at the vet. He passed calmly, peacefully, and quickly. It was what was best for him, but it was such a hard loss for my whole family- myself especially. I cried pretty much all day until I'd made myself sick and my eyelids were so swollen it looked like I'd had an allergic reaction. Since then, I've been trying to keep myself distracted doing artwork
Finally Starting Treatment!
So I was diagnosed with MS and have been battling it since February. It's been a long road of tests and scans and constant symptoms. Tomorrow is the day I FINALLY begin my first treatment! I'm so relieved it's finally here- and also very nervous. It's an infusion that I will be getting over the course of a few hours at the hospital. Since this is my first one, I'll be getting half the dose tomorrow and the second half in exactly two weeks. Afterwards (if I respond well to it), it'll be a single dose every 6 months. After I get it, I'll be there anther few hours to be monitored to make sure I don't have any negative reactions to it. The reaction percentage is pretty high, so I'm very nervous about that. Some reactions are mild, and some very serious. I'm hoping I'm lucky enough to not have any negative reaction to it (not while monitored and not within the 24 hours afterwards when it can still happen while I'm back at home). After this I will be immunocompromised, and in the age of
