My stolen art! *UPDATE*

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 22, 2012, 11:13 AM
Someone stole my art!

I just googled my name and someone stole a bunch of work from my gallery and posted it on some website. I'm freaking out! I don't know what to do. Can anyone please help??

This is the link to that site-

UPDATE-

The pictures were removed. But my God I can't believe how rude and nasty this person was to me! Seriously! The first email I sent to request the pictures removed was firm because I didn't want to be taken advantage of, but in no way was it nasty. The reply I got was kind of nasty and defensive, and they wanted proof that I was the artist. I didn't want to fight with this person, so I spent a good hour typing a calm and carefully worded reply to be respectful and explain my opinion and reasoning as to why I wanted my art taken off of a porn site when I didn't put it there myself. And I asked that my opinion be respected, and inquired what I could do to prove my identity. I got some nasty reply about how basically stupid I was, how I was wrong about pretty much everything, and had no rights because the art was fanart. They concluded with, "I decided they [my art] aren't worth fighting over.  So fine, they are deleted. Good riddance to them and to you."

I'm happy my art was removed, but I'm kind of pissed at the way I was talked to. Moreover I'm shocked at this person's attitude. I would think someone running a website would be at least somewhat civil and respectful. A part of me wonders if this is some porn-addicted 20-year-old who got pissed that someone didn't want their art on his porn site. Very juvenile. I'm kind of tempted to post the emails here to see if anyone thinks I'm blowing this out of proportion, or if this person really is an asshole.

Is anyone interested in reading it? Or should I not bother? I'm not even responding to the last email. This person not worth my time to talk to me like shit.

I'm so sorry to hear that... But glad it's over now. But I've read another journal about art theft. Does it sound familiar? [link]

I'm so glad that's over. But I did hear about this other one. That was part of my stress yesterday. Someone sent me a note warning me about a website with stolen art and gave me the link. But that person didn't tell me that I shouldn't click the link or that that website is the one that's giving viruses and stealing the art. So of course I clicked it. And I read the comments on that page and searched my name to see if it was there before I read a journal on dA saying that's exactly what NOT to do. :icontearfulplz: I didn't get a virus, but now my work is going to be stolen because they have my name, and I'll have to deal with this all over again. Ugh makes me sick to think about it.

Aww, I'm so sorry. I can't understand people who do that. It's terrible. :(

Glad to see everything got settled... Yeah, I've heard some people say the greatest compliment is when your work has been ripped and/or redistributed, but yea... Gotta love the Internet. I once found my wallpaper on a bootleg DVD case. :)

I'm so glad it's over now! At least they were taken down relatively easily, despite the stress. I guess that's how I know my work is getting good- people are starting to steal it lol But it definitely wasn't a place that I wanted my art to be.

Oh wow, on a bootleg DVD case. That's pretty funny. Did someone point it out to you, or did you happen to come across the DVD and recognize it?

Someone told me online LOL. But yea, a porn site isn't what you want to be affiliated with. XD You have to decide however, if it applies to any other site without your authorization, or whether you'd pick and choose. It's been so many years now, that I've given up - only caring if they remove my signature and/or website URL I place on my works. Otherwise I just consider it free advertisement. :/

I found a way to email them and they sent me a semi-nasty defensive reply that essentially I should be grateful that the art is there and that "if I was smart" I could link to my page so people could look at my other work. And that it's not stolen b/c my name is still on there..

and this is a porn site. T_T
