Description

Finally took photos of my Monster Hunter cosplay that I made for New York Comic Con 6 months ago. The con was so crowded and hectic that I didn't really have time/the opportunity to take photos of my costume. And I only ended up wearing it that one day- NYCC is really not the place to dress up unless it's something reallyyy comfortable lol

I worked my butt off making this costume!! I thought it looked fairly easy, so stupid me left it for the last minute. I ended up making it in a week and a half- working on it 8-10 hours each day; a few "easier" days were 6 hours. After shopping for wide pants and failing, I took a pair of costume pirate capris pants that ended up being wide enough to use. I bought a few yards of red fabric and hand-sewed them to the capris to make the bottoms, and used black ribbon for the stripes. I cut zigzag strips of white fabric and used stitch witchery to attach them rather than sew. The orange "skirt" I made with a couple yards of orange fabric that I designed to wear like a belt (belt is underneath and holds it up). I hand-sewed all the edges so the fabric wouldn't fray, and used more fabric and ribbon for all the designs. The arm warmers were fishnet arm warmers, red socks that I cut and sewed off, and white fabric that I kept in place with velcro. I painted a Chinese straw hat with acrylic paint for the design, painted a feather with watercolor paint, and wound in red suade to tie under my chin to keep it on.

Since I have no idea how to use a sewing machine, or know how to make costumes, I pretty much just winged it and hoped I could pull it off. Very stressful :iconeheplz: but I'm quite proud of it. Though I would revamp some parts before using it again, but for now I'm very happy with it. Took some photos in my backyard with my melynx cat, and my sword replica from The Last Samurai.

That's awesome! I'm looking to make the yukumo set myself, but having never crafted a costume before, I'm a bit worried lol

You did a great job though!
